AntiCrack

App developer, Oliver Drobnik, a.k.a. Dr. Touch, developed AntiCrack as a solution to battle illegal app distribution.  While AntiCrack doesn’t prevent cracking tools from cracking apps, it does allow developers to detect if the current user is using a legit or cracked version of the app.  Developers can easily implement this toolset and choose their course of action if a crack has been detected.  Some strategies involved have been enabling an expiration date to allow cracked users to use the app for a trial period, slowly disabling features over time, or even immediately consuming all memory and forcing the device to reset.  AntiCrack is available for a donation of $15 – $50 which includes the AntiCrack tool to integrate into the app, the source code, implementation support, future updates, and a special ‘bonus’ that’s only revealed to buyers.

Kali Anti-Piracy

Widely available, easy-to-use, one-click cracking tools can enable valid App Store applications to be installed for free on any jailbroken iPhone.  These cracked applications are then distributed in online directories resulting in lost revenue for developers.  To fight this illegal distribution trend, Ripdev developed the Kali Anti-Piracy tool.  Kali Anti-Piracy wraps apps in an additional layer of protection that makes apps more difficult to crack.  This protection comes at a price though.  In addition to setup fees ranging from $100-$300, RipDev also charges a royalty between 1% and 5% based on quarterly app sales numbers.
